Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Join the American Italian Cultural Center for its screening of Rome, Open City: a film that immerses its viewers in the lives of resistance fighters during the Nazi occupation of Rome. The film follows engineer Giorgio, who in his attempts to escape the Germans, seeks help from Pina, a fellow resistance fighter, and Don Pietro, the priest set to oversee her marriage. Directed by Roberto Rosselini, Rome, Open City conveys the desperation, fear and uncertainty of the time. Its neorealist depiction of WWII freedom fighters remains a powerful reminder of the people whose self-sacrifice made our own lives possible.
