The Annual Crawfish Mambo: Cook-off and Music Festival is a community-wide festival celebrating two favorite Louisiana traditions: crawfish and music.   Now in its seventh year, Crawfish Mambo is New Orleans’ largest crawfish cook-off and features ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT boiled crawfish all day plus the best of live local music. Other food and beverage are available for purchase for those who are do not partake in crawfish.   More than 50 four-member boil teams will compete for $1000 in prize money, the Championship Paddle, and bragging rights for a year. A panel of celebrity judges will determine the winner of the Cook-off Competition; attendees will also vote to determine the “Crowd Favorite”.  Each team is also invited to compete for the Best Decorated Booth Award.   The inaugural Crawfish Peel N’ Eat Competition will also commence at this year’s Crawfish Mambo. Contestants from across the U.S. will compete by eating as much crawfish as they can in 10 minutes. Top-ranked competitive eaters from the Greater New Orleans area and around the country will gather to vie for $1,000 in prize money and the coveted title of “Crawfish Peel N’ Eat Champion.” There will be free parking available on the UNO campus for the event.
