Begun in 1985, the Port Barre Cracklin Festival is the major fundraiser for the Port Barre Lions Club. Attended by thousands of festival goers each year, it is an important cultural event for the city of Port Barre and St. Landry Parish.

This festival showcases the ritual of making cracklins - a traditional Louisiana food that has made headlines on such cooking reality shows such as Top Chef. Enjoy terrific food, great Cajun, zydeco and swamp pop music, carnival rides, arts and crafts, and a beauty pageant. No ice chests, glass containers or pets allowed. Cracklin Festival is held the second weekend in November every year.
