Classic Bloody Mary

Serves 4

Recipe courtesy of "The Tabasco Brand Cookbook"

Ingredients: 
  • 1 quart tomato juice
  • 1 cup vodka or gin
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon or lime
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestshire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Tabasco or to taste
  • celery for garnish

Method: 

Combine all ingredients into a 2-quart pitcher. Stir well and refrigerate until chilled.

Serve over ice, garnished with lime slices, celery stalks or green beans. 
For spicier drink add more tabasco.

Variations of Bloody Mary concoctions are endless. Try clam juice, horseradish, coriander, soy sauce, garlic powder for great "originals"

Note: Bloody Mary originated in the 1920's in Paris. The story goes it was created by an American, Fernand Petiot working at Harry's Bar. Tobasco was added in the 1930's at the King Cole Bar in New York's St. Regis Hotel.
