How accurate is your thermometer?

Easily test the accuracy of your meat, oven, and grill thermometers: bring about two inches of water to a rolling boil, insert the tip of your thermometer taking care not to touch the bottom of the pan. It should register close to 212ºF unless you're at high altitude (or well below sea level). If it doesn't, it's time for a new thermometer.
