Beer Batter

Condiments and Sauces

Makes 2 cups

Ingredients: 
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • beer

Optional: add any of the following to the batter: Creole seasoning, Cajun seasoning, minced green onions or chives, lemon zest, other herbs and/or spices.

Basic Beer Batter

Method: 

In a small mixing bowl combine flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Lightly beat egg and add to the bowl. Add at least one cup of beer to the batter; this will result in a very thick batter. Thin to desired consistency with additional beer.
