Brussels Sprouts Facts

Submitted by admin

These little cabbages got their name from being cultivated near the Belgian capital (Brussels) as early as the 1500's.

Brussels sprouts grow on stalks with 20 to 40 on the stem of a plant that can grow three feet high.

Brussels sprouts will keep up to a week in the crisper section of your refrigerator. Store in a plastic or paper bag.

They are a member of the cruciferous vegetable family and contain high amounts of vitamins A and C.
