Audubon Sparrow Identification Workshop
Time: 6:00 pm

Join Audubon Louisiana ornithologists, Erik Johnson and Katie Percy, for a weekend focused on sparrows! No, not House Sparrows, but the charming little brown birds that give bird watchers headaches to identify. In this workshop, we will provide classroom and field-based lessons to help you better identify these birds by sight and sound, and to understand their habitat associations and seasonal distribution within Louisiana. All experience levels are welcome!

Based out of Fontainebleau State Park and the Northlake Nature Center, we will visit several local sites to maximize the variety of species we encounter. We will do some walking on trails and in fields, and on uneven ground, so a minimal level of physical fitness is recommended.

If you would like to utilize local accommodations for lodging, we have reserved two cabins with bunk-style lodging at Fontainebleau State Park, and ask for $40 in addition to the registration fee of $50 to cover the lodging expense Friday and Saturday nights.
