"All aboard!" shout the Greater Baton Rouge Model Railroaders again, inviting model train lovers to their annual October Trainfest open house and steam up at the Republic of West Florida Museum. This is the place to see real live steam model locomotives being demonstrated as well as elaborate indoor and outdoor electric trains in all scales—from tiny Z-scale to large Garden Railroad trains. The club operates one of only two publicly accessible outdoor garden railroads in Louisiana on the grounds of the museum. Visitors can also visit the museum, which houses a unique collection of artifacts and vintage automobiles. Food will be available and the event is free to all visitors.
