A reception and ceremony will be held in the Eaves Room of the Main Branch, downtown at 424 Texas Street at 10:30 am. In addition, library staff and the Friends of Shreve Memorial Library have partnered with the Downtown Development Authority and Shreveport Regional Arts Council as a stop on the Third Thursday Trolley, to be held on December 19th. From 4:00pm until 8:00pm, shoppers can browse for books during a special Friends of the “Li-berry” sale at the Main branch. The event will also feature hot cider and holiday cheer.

Our celebration will continue beyond December. Throughout 2014, SML will highlight our decades-long role as a cornerstone of Caddo Parish through a number of special events. The Library will host architecture tours, interactive special exhibits and digital collections, “maker” and “fabrication” activities, service projects, and other special events alongside community partners. Every month will feature activities representing each decade of SML’s rich history, beginning with the 1920s in January.
