For your salad or snacks. Cut four 1/2-inch thick slices of French bread into 3/4-inch cubes. Melt 1/4 cup of butter in a large skillet and then remove from heat. Stir in 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder and add bread cubes and mix until all are coated. Spread on a shallow baking sheet or dish and bake for 15 minutes at 300˚F . Stir and turn pieces after 10 minutes and bake until dry and crisp (another 5 minutes). Makes about 2 cups.
For variety use other breads and/or add dillweed to melted butter or parmesan cheese.
