WEATHERING THE STORM: KICKING CANCER IN THE GUT FUNDRAISER

SATURDAY, JUNE 28

 Café Adelaide, The Drew Rodrigue Foundation, and The Louisiana Hospitality Institute band together to host a fundraiser on behalf of beloved Executive Chef Carl Schaubhut

 WHAT:           On Saturday, June 28, 2014, those who call Café Adelaide’s Executive Chef Carl Schaubhut chef, friend, brother, and husband will join forces at The Cannery to host “Kicking Cancer in the Gut,” a fundraiser benefitting Schaubhut, who was diagnosed with stomach cancer in April 2014.

Tickets to the event will help fund the excellent care that he has received following his diagnosis. The event will include unlimited libations, a silent auction, live music from Mississippi Rail Company, extensive catering offerings from Schaubhut’s friends in other top NOLA kitchens including Emeril’s, La Petite Grocery, Patois, The Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group and Atchafalaya, as well as from Commander's PalaceSoBou, and Cafe Adelaide, for $75 a person. In addition, one-of-a-kind auction items will be up for grabs, including the following packages:

·         ‘Can you Hang’ Bar Crawl with bar chefs Lu Brow and Abigail Gullo

·         Dinner cooked by Chef Tory McPhail with Dottie and Ella Brennan at their home

·         Brennan Progressive dinner featuring Red Fish Grill, Mr. B’s, SoBou & Tableau

·         Field-trip to the Donner-Peltier distillery with Bar Chef Lu Brow

As a testament to Schaubhut’s kind and generous spirit, the New Orleans native has received an outpouring of support, and all proceeds from the event will benefit his wellness fund. Unused proceeds will be donated to cancer research and patient support programs.

About Carl Schaubhut

Carl Schaubhut assumed the position of executive chef for Café Adelaide in March 2013 after serving as a key member of the Commander’s Palace culinary team for two years. A Louisiana native, Schaubhut is vested in the New Orleans community, participating in local festivities and organizations including the Corner Club, an Irish marching club; Hogs for the Cause, which aids families battling pediatric brain cancer; and various other local fundraisers. In the 2013 New Orleans Food and Wine Experience, he took home the Gold Medal in the “Soups and Stews” category for his Piquillo Pepper Bloody Mary Gazpacho.
