ST. ALPHONSUS CHURCH PRESENTS

FUN UNDER THE FRESCOES – IRISH EXTRAVAGANZA with THE CRESCENT CITY CELTIC BAND (with Chef Matt Murphy), McTEGGART IRISH DANCERS and BAGPIPER – KEVIN BACON!

The Friends of Saint Alphonsus announce the final concert of the season with its Irish Extravaganza! The Church will celebrate its rich Irish history, with the concert/party featuring the Crescent City Celtic Band with special guest singer Chef Matt Murphy along with the McTeggart Irish Dancers plus bagpiper Kevin Bacon on Wednesday, March 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church in the Irish Channel – 2025 Constance Street.

Admission to each performance is only $10 and includes 3 adult beverages including Jameson Irish Whiskey from Boondock Saint, wine from Vino Wholesale and NOLA Brewery Beer.  Plus - Food Network “Chopped!” Champion and your favorite Ya-Ka-Mein Lady, Ms. Linda Green, will be there with her specialties. That will be TWO “CHOPPED” CHAMPIONS IN THE HOUSE!!

This program would not be possible without the generous support of the New Orleans Hash House Harriers’ Red Dress Run and our sponsors: Vino Wholesale, NOLA Brewing, the Boondock Saint Bar, Cathead Vodka, and Bayou Rum.

St. Alphonsus Catholic Church was built in 1855 to serve the needs of the Irish Catholic immigrants who began settling in the neighborhood in the 1840s. In 1979, the church was closed. After a continuing fall into decline, FOSA was formed in 1990; in 1996, the building was declared a National Historic Landmark. With glorious, yet deteriorating, ceiling frescos and stained glass windows over a century old, the building is breathtakingly beautiful and has been featured in several television shows and movies… and the acoustics rock!

Enjoy fabulous music with your friends and support one of New Orleans’ cultural treasures, the 155 year-old Saint Alphonsus Church. We will see you next season for Fun Under the Frescoes
