Louisiana Swine Festival is held yearly during the first weekend of November at the City Park in Basile, Louisiana.  The festival was started in 1966 to promote the Feeder Pig Industry in the area.  In 1974, the industry declined but the festival continued as the foremost cultural event in the Town of Basile.  The focus of the Swine Festival then became a cultural showcase for all things pork related and for the promotion and preservation of our local Cajun Heritage.  The Festival features live music, a fair, greasy pig chases, a hog-calling contest, boudin-eating contests, a pork cook-off and a large parade on Sunday.
