Both my sister and my husband's best friend are visiting this week. Ironically, they live less than 10 miles from each other in the San Francisco Bay Area and see each other far more often than we do; we'll have a good time. I'm going to make the sweet corn and shrimp macque choux recipe linked below tonight, and I've promised the home made peach ice cream recipe we've published in the summer issue of the magazine. 

July 4th is just around the corner; send me some of your favorite grilling recipes. I've got more family coming in for the holiday, and the crew will include several hungry boys I'll need to feed.

Griddled Shrimp Sandwich

This recipe first appeared in the July/August 2012 issue of the magazine, and was provide by Michelle Folse of the Bridge Side Marina & Deli (Grand Isle). Sweet Gulf shrimp are sautéed with mushrooms, onions, and peppers, and seasoned with a little Creole spice blend. It's a perfect dish for summer's fresh produce.

This is another perfect summer recipe. Blogger Kristen at goboldwithbutter.com writes of a trip to New Orleans that included this dish; she recreated it at home. We adapted her recipe to include local squash. Delicious.

Wow! Turkey Burgers

This recipe is adapted from The Passionate Vegetable by Suzanne Landry for Health Inspired Publishing. Released in March of this year, it is over 300 pages in length and is packed with recipes, photography, tips, and alternative use ideas—in other words, you aren't forced to follow the recipe step by step. All the recipes are lower in fat, sodium, and calories, but full of flavor. Give this turkey burger a try. (Go for pre-ground turkey if you don't have your own meat grinder.)
