Tons of boudin is on hand at what has become the state’s Premiere Boudin Event. Robert Carriker, the mastermind behind the cook-off, explains “this event is first and foremost a celebration of boudin and the folks who make it. Well, and, of course, the people who love to eat it too!” “We have 16 different boudin makers this year so the variety is going to be amazing” he adds “Look for the state’s first and only Boudin Ball Eating Contest, a Cajun microwave pig roast sampled out in the afternoon, and the unveiling of a special ‘boudin handpie’. . . . . oh, and someone will win free boudin for a year!” says Carriker. This is in addition to the free activities for the kids, music, ice cream sandwich give-away, and all the other goings on during this event. There’s good reason why Gourmet Magazine also named it as one of the top ten food festivals in the U.S. Festivities include music by the The Bluerunners, the Babineaux Sisters, and the Iceman Special. Attendees will enjoy craft beers and free ice cream sandwiches handed out by Hospice of Acadiana. There will be food, refreshments, prizes, and free activities for the whole family from fun jumps, face painting, games, and two boudin eating contests. Proceeds benefit the Historic Preservation Alliance of Lafayette. |
