Ralph’s on the Park and New Orleans Chefs Host Dinner to End Childhood Hunger
On Monday, November 12, 2012, Ralph Brennan of the Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group will strike a delicious but powerful blow against child hunger in New Orleans and across the United States by hosting the first annual Share Our Strength benefit dinner at Ralph’s on the Park. Renowned local chefs will join Ralph Brennan and his team to prepare a full course meal with a cause: ending childhood hunger in New Orleans and the rest of the country.
Ralph’s on the Park executive chef and U.S. State Department Culinary Ambassador, Chip Flanagan, a father himself, recognizes that lack of nourishment for a child is inconceivable. “Children missing a meal, not just one, but on a daily basis, is devastating to their development, and it should be our concern to ensure every child is sufficiently fed for a healthy future.” With this in mind, Chip will be at the helm of the kitchen alongside executive pastry chef of the Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group, Brett Gauthier and chefs Aaron Burgau of Patois, Kristin Butterworth of The Grill Room at the Windsor Court Hotel, and Justin Devillier of La Petite Grocery, Alex Hartell of Sylvain.
Guest speakers for the evening include Randy Fertel of the Ruth U. Fertel Foundation and well-known author of the celebrated novel The Gorilla Man and the Empress of Steak: A New Orleans Family Memoir. Also, Rhonda Jackson for Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign in New Orleans will say a few words. In addition to the evening speakers and dinner, guests will also have the opportunity to participate in an auction that includes one-of-a-kind culinary, travel and lifestyle items.
Known for his commitment and contributions to the New Orleans community, Ralph Brennan has partnered with Bill Goldring of Sazerac Company to chair this philanthropic event to benefit the No Kid Hungry campaign. “We want to define a better place for children to live and grow, both in the New Orleans community and beyond,” says Brennan, “In every culture, a family’s core strength is based around gathering together for a meal, and it is our hope to bring that next meal to their table.”
Tickets are $150 per person for the 6PM cocktail reception and 7PM dinner. Table opportunities are available starting at $2,500. To make a reservation, please call 202-478-6528 or visit strength.org/nkh_neworleans.
The No Kid Hungry Campaign reaches children at risk for hunger in New Orleans by increasing participation in highly effective but often under utilized federal food and nutrition programs like Summer Food Service, School Breakfast, WIC and After School Meals. Since 2005, No Kid Hungry dinners have raised nearly $5 million to provide meal support for children in need across the United States.
