Please join us as we celebrate the 14th Acadian Memorial Heritage Festival on March 16, 2019 in and around the Acadian Memorial and the Bayou Teche. Food, music, arts and crafts, theater, demonstrations and children’s activities continue from 10am to 4pm in Evangeline Oak Park on Bayou Teche in downtown St. Martinville. The event is free and open to the public. Enjoy traditional Cajun food and crafts, while watching demonstrations of how they are cooked and crafted from local chefs and artisans. Fried fish, jambalaya and cracklin demonstrations continue throughout the Festival beginning at 10 a.m. While having a bite, wander through vendors and artisans of Louisiana native crafts. And we have music and dancing, of course! Amis du Tèche take the stage at 10:30am and then again in the afternoon. The reenactment of the Acadian arrival in Louisiana takes place at 1pm on the Bayou Teche with members of the Benoît and Savoie families being honored at this year`s festivities. It wouldn`t be an Acadian festival without French. Join our Table Française at 10am. Enjoy historic vignettes in French with members of Théâtre Cadien! We welcome the folks from Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site sharing traditional toys and games of the 18th century. Stay tuned for more surprises!! The Acadian Memorial will be open and free of charge. The Festival is free of charge, and food, drinks and crafts will be available for purchase. Come join us!!
