If you hate the idea of a single-use item in your kitchen and are therefore loathe to buy a pizza stone (which is necessary for good pizza crust unless you have a pizza oven), use your cast iron instead. I have 2 of the Jumbo Chef's Platters from Lodge Manufacturing; they just fit side by side in my oven. Set the oven temperature as high as it will go and let it and the cast iron preheat for a full hour; your pizza crust will be divine, and a 10-inch pizza will cook in about 7 minutes.
