Vote early and vote often! George Graham, a regular LK&C contributor, publishes the popular blog Acadiana Table, and it is a finalist for Saveur magazine's Best Regional Cuisine Blog award this year. We think it's a fantastic blog, and would love to see him win. Please take a minute to click over here and vote for Acadiana Table, share on Facebook, and ask your friends to vote as well.

NOTE: The Collector's Bundle has been on back order for a few weeks; we are now fully stocked up and shipping. Readers love it; it's not often you have the chance to collect every single issue of a magazine. Click to order.

Lava Cantina in Baton Rouge is celebrating a year in business with a full schedule of festivities next week. There's a Jazz Brunch on Sunday, Ladies' Night on Tuesday, a Trivia, Tacos and Tequila bash on Wednesday night, and a full-on Birthday Bash on Friday night. Even better, they're giving away FREE tacos when you bring in a non-perishable food item to donate and help feed needy families in the Baton Rouge area.

Once again, the New Orleans chapter of the American Culinary Federation is honoring Louisiana's best and brightest chefs. The event is Tuesday, April 8, and will raise funds for the organization while allowing you to sample food from thirty chefs around the region. Tickets are on sale now; they'll sell out so get yours while there's time.

Friday evening you'll find me judging the Edible Book competition at New Orleans' Museum of Modern Art. Come out and take a look at some fantastical, imaginative creations, and say hello. There's a people's choice award, so you get a voice in the proceedings.

We have partnered with the Hotel Monteleone to give one lucky reader a long weekend for two in New Orleans and tickets to the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience. Details and the entry form are here; good luck, and I look forward to meeting the winner!

Enjoy this week's recipes, share them with family and friends, and, as always, let me know what's on your mind

Crawfish at Rouses

Seafood Louis

Seafood Louis

I moved to the San Francisco Bay Area after getting my journalism degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. For many years, I worked near the Sheraton Palace Hotel on Market Street, a grande dame among old, elegant hotels. I loved to entertain clients there for lunch; a version of this salad was on the specials menu from time to time. I'd order it when I could tear myself away from the burger... this is a perfect lunch entrée for warmer days. Sub out any kind of seafood for the shrimp and crab.

Artichoke and Seafood Dip

Artichoke and Seafood Dip

This old standby is certainly not on the diet menu; it comes together quickly, particularly if you already have artichoke hearts cooked and cleaned. Feel free to used canned ones if you don't have access to fresh. This is best hot out of the oven; try not to slather yourself in it. Click to forward email and recipes.

Spring Asparagus with Shallots

Spring Asparagus with Shallots

Asparagus is coming into season, and is at the peak of flavor. This very simple preparation is a perfect side dish to most any grilled meat; the butter really pulls the flavors of the asparagus and shallots together. Don't pass on this one just because it's so simple. Click to forward email and recipes.
