Lemon-Garlic Broiled Shrimp

Serves 3 to 4

Ingredients: 
  • 2 pounds raw shrimp, peeled, heads removed if desired (heads add flavor to sauce)
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • freshly ground pepper to taste
  • tabasco to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • chopped parsley, for garnish

Method: 

Rinse shrimp with cold water. Drain and dry on paper towels. Cook garlic in butter until tender; do not brown. Add remaining ingredients and toss to coat. Scrape pan contents into a rimmed baking sheet and spread in a single layer. Preheat broiler with a rack 4 inches from the heat source. Broil shrimp, stirring once, until just opaque; cooking time will vary based on the size of the shrimp,6 to 10 minutes. Transfer to a platter, garnish with parsley, and serve with plenty of hot French bread for sopping up the sauce.
