Note: The muffuletta is an Italian sandwich created in New Orleans in early 1900's. Consists of a round loaf of bread about 10 inches across filled with Italian salami, olive salad, cheese, Italian ham and sometimes other ingredients like mortadella and minced garlic. The key ingredient is the olive salad providing the necessary moisture as well as the characteristic flavors that blend so well with the meats and cheeses.
